Week 18
Fast forward three months, and I am now 18 weeks along! The past few weeks have been rough. It is called morning sickness, but I experienced it more as all-the-time sickness. I definitely felt an initiation process into motherhood with how hard it was to find anything that appealed to eat or drink. Tommy has been a total saint, taking amazing care of all three of us! He has been grocery shopping, cooking and doing most everyday chores to keep us moving along. In the meantime, I remind myself that I've been tasked with the job of growing a person - nothing short of a miraculous undertaking! This whole experience has just further solidified that we make a great team and have a strong partnership. There is no one I would rather be on this journey with than my sweet husband.
I saw this series of questions on a friend's blog and think it is a great way to track the changes that are taking place! So here we go...
How far along? 18 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: gained 5 pounds - that I know of at this point...I wait for my check-ups to get officially weighed in :)
Maternity clothes? Yes, thank goodness! I did not actually make the switch until about two weeks ago, and it was the best decision. Those elastic waist bands are where its at! Plus lots of room to still grow.
Sleep: I am sleep on my left side, pretty much exclusively which is a huge change for this back sleeper. Three pillows are a must! One under my head, one to hug, and one between the knees!
Best moment this week: Feeling good enough to go on a long bike ride with Tommy and even get in a couple of workouts this week!
Miss anything? With the return of the Colorado warm weather and lots of sunshine, I am missing having a beer on the patio!
Enjoyments: Sleeping! Really wish I could take two naps during the work day, one after my morning snack and one around 3 in the afternoon.
Movement: Yes! It started early last week when I was laying in bed and feels like flutters or bubbles in my tummy! Really amazing.
Food cravings: No food cravings yet. Still just easing into liking food again and wanting that to be a positive transition.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I still can't stand the smell of mint! We have switched mouthwash and toothpaste away from anything mint (which is super hard to find by the way). Citrus is a safe bet these days.
Have you started to show? Just this week my belly has started to pop out a bit more and I've had lots of people tell me that I finally starting to show.
Belly button: still very much in!
Signs of labor: absolutely not, thank goodness
Wedding rings on or off? on, lots of room
Happy or moody most of the time: Starting to be happy more than moody, which is a great shift because the last two months have definitely been moody months.
Prediction: I have decided not to make a prediction. I will be happy either way!
Happy Anniversary and Happy Baby!
On January 26, 2014 we celebrated our first wedding anniversary with a weekend skiing in Vail and dinner out in Fort Collins at our favorite spot, Jay's Bistro. Just one short week later we would celebrate an even bigger life milestone. We had talked about starting our family and knew that 2014 would hopefully be the year. Little did we know what a quick blessing we would be handed! I had felt a little funny for a couple of weeks, but decided to wait until February 3rd to take a pregnancy test. There was all the news we needed. Two pink lines - we were going to be parents and we were thrilled!
We then shared the exciting news with our families and had a good time guessing whether Baby Wolohon would be a girl or a boy.
Due Date - October 8th 2014!
